What Is Decorative Stamped Concrete?
Decorative stamped concrete is regular concrete that has been colored and imprinted with textured patterns before it sets — creating the appearance of natural materials like stone, brick, slate, or wood at a fraction of the cost. After pouring, color hardeners or integral pigments are applied to the surface, and rubber stamps are pressed into the concrete to create the desired texture and pattern. Once cured, a protective sealer is applied to lock in color and add a finished sheen.
Our Decorative Stamped Concrete Process
Our Design Consultation
Every project starts with a conversation. We walk through your space, understand your vision, and present pattern and color samples so you can make an informed decision before a single yard of concrete is poured. No guesswork — just clarity.
Site Preparation & Forming
Proper sub-base preparation is the foundation of any lasting stamped surface. We excavate, compact, and form the area to precise dimensions, ensuring proper drainage slope and a stable base that won't shift or settle under the finished slab.
Pouring, Coloring & Stamping
Once the concrete is poured and screeded, color hardeners or integral pigments are broadcast and worked into the surface. Our team then uses professional rubber stamp mats to press your chosen pattern into the concrete before it sets locking in every detail.
Accent Colors & Sealing
After stamping, release agents and accent color washes are applied to add depth and realism to the pattern — just like natural stone varies in tone. Once the surface is cleaned and fully cured, we apply a high-quality penetrating or topical sealer to protect the color, repel staining, and add a beautiful finish.
Stamped Concrete FAQ
How long does stamped concrete last?
With proper installation and resealing, stamped concrete typically lasts 25–30 years or more. The key is quality sub-base preparation, correct concrete mix, proper curing, and resealing every 2–3 years to protect the color and surface.
Is stamped concrete slippery when wet?
Plain or high-gloss sealed stamped concrete can be slippery when wet. That's why we apply a slip-resistant additive to all exterior stamped concrete surfaces as standard practice — especially around pool decks, walkways, and steps.
Can stamped concrete be repaired if it cracks?
Yes. Cracks in stamped concrete can be filled, recolored, and resealed to closely match the original surface. The sooner a crack is addressed, the easier and less costly the repair. We assess every situation honestly before recommending a solution.
How long does it take to install stamped concrete?
Most residential stamped concrete projects take 2–4 days from pour to sealed finish, depending on size and design complexity. We'll give you a detailed project timeline during your free estimate so you know exactly what to expect.
